Merry Christmas
December 25, 2009Grand central
December 23, 2009I think one thing that characterizes New Yorkers is that we don’t always want to (or think to) photograph typical NYC landmarks. I must have walked through Grand Central Station hundreds of times in the past decade, and I’ve never taken a picture.
The other day, however, I was making my way through to run a couple errands only to discover both of my destinations were closed. So my trip was pointless.
Which made me want to take a photograph so the trip ultimately had some purpose.
It’s a typical Grand Central shot, but my first.

December 22, 2009It snowed liked crazy on Saturday night. Since I love snow, this made me very happy. I took some pictures late at night.
It was so windy, the snow attached itself to my window screen. This was taken late at night with all my lights off. It’s a 20-second exposure taken with my camera sitting on top of an upside-down coffee cup, in case you’re interested.
And this was a 15-second exposure taken out my bathroom window with my camera resting on a roll of toilet paper.
I love how nighttime long exposures can make it look like daytime.

December 19, 2009Snow in an elevator
December 19, 2009After we left a cool little party honoring Improv Everywhere’s Subway Yearbook Photos video (among others), my friend and fellow photographer Katie Sokoler decided it would be fun to play in a freight elevator filled with fake snow. Since I love photographing both moving things and people, I couldn’t resist taking out my camera.
There are more on flickr — click the photo to see the rest. Okay, here’s one more:
She also took some of me! I’ll post those later. My fiance and I just sat through Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead and I am emotionally drained.
Katie is a brilliant photographer and one of the most creative people I’ve ever met. Check out her blog.
Oh, right…
December 10, 2009I have a WordPress account. I think I’ll make a blog.
